Nicholas Mahler Receives Degree from Benedictine College

Benedictine College held its annual commencement exercises on Saturday, May 12, 2012, in the Ralph Nolan Gymnasium on the Atchison campus. This year, 317 candidates were honored during the ceremony, including students from throughout the United States and around the world.

Nicholas Mahler of Cincinnati graduated from Benedictine with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Secondary Education, Spanish Education.

George Weigel, noted author and biographer of Blessed John Paul II, received an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree and delivered the Commencement Address during which he told the students to "be champions of religious freedom." Archbishop Joseph Naumann, of the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas, was also honored with a Doctor of Humane Letters degree. Benedictine College is a Catholic, residential, liberal arts college located on a 120-acre campus in Atchison, Kansas.
